Torch Parade

Once a year the Winter Sports Club outfits every young skier with lighted road flares and sends them down the Face of Howelsen in the dark while five thousand people gather at the bottom to watch. . .

Above is Gillian's group. . . Gig was really nervous to hold the fire.

. . . and in the one above here is Will's group.  Will couldn't wait to do this!

The announcer told the crowd that the town sends social services to Florida for the week.

The Lighted Man came down, all lit up, with fireworks shooting out of his backpack.

Then other people skied down with sleds of shooting fireworks.  Seriously, there was fire everywhere!

And then the ski jumpers came down, all up in flames, and jumped through this flaming hoop.

It was quite a show!!

That and the tubing look like a lot of fun! I'm glad Gig got over her fear, I could tell when I talked with her that she was nervous about it. And not surprised Will was excited. our little daredevil. :)
