Blue Lake

On day 2 we packed up our tents and pushed on another couple miles to Blue Lake, where we camped for two nights.  It was a short but steep hike.

Looked just like a Coors commercial!

The kids had fun at the stream crossings:

. . . but Gaby almost fell in!

After we set up camp, we kicked off our shoes and gave our feet a break.

We were able to camp a little ways away from the lake, so that was a popular spot to chillax:

Bryan brought his fly rod, but the fish weren't hungry for whatever he was offerin'.

A few of the brave souls even jumped in!!  This water used to be snow not too long ago. : )  It was freezing!!

The hammocks were once again a huge hit.  Between our group, we had three.  They were always occupied.  Beats sitting on a log or a rock!

Finally I was able to get a picture of Sam.  He is a fast hiker.  We gave him the heaviest pack, but it didn't slow him down.  I didn't really see him on the trail, but I caught him relaxing around camp!

So after a day of relaxing around camp, we planned to hike to the Continental Divide the next morning.  It was amazing!

Pictures of that tomorrow.
